# Storm and hail damage roof repair. Every slope tested, photographed and documented.

Mammoth Roofing & Exteriors · https://mammothroofs.com/services/storm-damage-repair/ · (210) 934-9074

We test-square every slope, check the attic for what the street can't show, and give you a dated report you can hand to your insurer or to another roofer. If the roof is fine, the report says so and you keep your claims history clean.

## Six things to do after a storm, in order.

Most of the mistakes homeowners make after a storm happen in the first two days, and most of them are made at the front door.

- **Make it safe**: If water is coming in, catch it and move what you can. Don't go on the roof; wet shingles and loose granules are how people fall.

- **Photograph everything**: Ceilings, the yard, the AC unit, dented gutters, the hail on the ground with a coin for scale. Time-stamped photos win claims.

- **Be careful what you sign**: Some contractors hand you paperwork as if it only authorizes an inspection or an adjuster meeting, when the agreement commits you to more. Read it, take your time, understand what you are signing, and get another opinion if you want one. Nobody needs your signature to inspect a roof.

- **Verify workers' comp before anyone climbs**: Texas does not require a roofer to carry workers' compensation, and a general-liability certificate is not the same thing: it does not cover the person on your roof. Ask for the workers' compensation certificate and check it through the Texas Department of Insurance before anyone goes up a ladder.

- **Get a free Roof Grade**: We test-square every slope, check soft metals and the attic, and write it up with the storm date attached.

- **Then decide**: Repair, claim, or nothing. We show you the evidence and explain the two-check process; the decision is yours.

## The damage the street can't see.

Every slope is test-squared and photographed; what we find goes in the report by slope, with a measurement.

- **Bruised shingles**: Hail knocks the granules off and crushes the mat underneath. It looks like a dark spot; it leaks two winters later.

- **Creased and lifted shingles**: Wind breaks the seal strip and folds the shingle back. It reseals sometimes, and leaks the rest of the time.

- **Soft metals**: Vents, pipe boots, gutters and the AC fins take hits that prove the storm and date it. We photograph them.

- **Metal roofs**: Metal shrugs off most hail, but large stones can dent panels and loosen fasteners. We check seams and every penetration.

- **Tile**: Cracked and displaced tiles, and the underlayment underneath that was already at the end of its life.

- **The attic**: Half the story is in the attic: wet insulation, stained decking, daylight through a nail hole. Most contractors never go up there.

- **Let us give you the honest read before you sign.** (Second opinion, free): Bring the other roofer's estimate. We grade the roof and tell you what's real, what's padding and what's missing — in writing.

## What happens next, and who does it.

If the damage justifies a claim, this is the whole process. If it doesn't, it ends at step one with a report and a handshake.

- **Free inspection + written report**: Every slope test-squared, the attic checked, the storm date attached.

- **Repair or claim?**: We explain what we found and what it would cost to repair outright, so you can decide whether a claim is worth filing.

- **Adjuster meeting**: If you file, we meet the adjuster on your roof and walk the damage together: scope, code items, pricing.

- **The build**: The Monumental Installation System, SafeSite protection, QualCheck and SweepCheck. Code upgrades documented as we go.

- **The second check**: Completion certificate and invoice to the insurer; the held-back depreciation is released. You pay your deductible and any upgrades you chose.

## If a roofer offers to "cover" or "waive" your deductible, you have learned everything you need to know about them.

It is against Texas law. Since House Bill 2102 took effect on September 1, 2019, a contractor who pays, waives, absorbs or rebates a property-insurance deductible commits a Class B misdemeanor (Business & Commerce Code §27.02), the policyholder must pay the deductible (Insurance Code Chapter 707), and your insurer can ask you for proof that you paid it. A roofer who offers it anyway is asking you to take part in insurance fraud, and is telling you how the rest of the job will go.

Storm chasers follow the weather from town to town. They sell hard at the door, use out-of-town crews, and are gone before the first leak. The tell is always the same: pressure, a signature today, and an offer that breaks the law.

Mammoth has been in Boerne since 2017. The office is on IH-10; the reviews are from your town; the crews wear purple all year.

## Straight answers before you call your insurer.

### Should I file a claim at all?

Only if the damage justifies it. A denied claim still counts against you. That's why the inspection comes first — if the roof grades a B, we'll say so and you keep your claims history clean.

### Do you photograph every hail hit?

We test-square and photograph every slope and document what we find in writing: the report shows the damage by slope, with measurements and photographs of the test squares, soft metals and the attic, not a separate photograph of each individual strike.

### How soon after a storm should I get the roof checked?

Within a couple of weeks. Damage doesn't get better, and most policies want the claim filed promptly. We run extra crews after a dated event.

### Do you handle the insurance company for me?

We meet the adjuster, provide the documentation and communicate scope, code and pricing. We are roofers, not public adjusters or lawyers — if a claim needs those, we'll tell you.

### Can a roofer waive or pay my deductible?

No. Texas law makes it a Class B misdemeanor for a contractor to pay, waive, absorb or rebate your deductible, and requires the policyholder to pay it; your insurer may ask for proof. Anyone offering it is offering to break the law with your claim.

### Is the inspection really free?

Yes — it's the same Roof Grade visit for every service. Attic first, 75–150 photos, the 32-point Hunter-Gatherer Report, a letter grade and a plain-English verdict. You get the written report whether you hire us or not.

### Will you tell me if I don't need the work?

Yes. An A grade is a handshake and a date to look again. A B means a few small repairs, priced in the open, on a roof with years left in it. We'd rather be the roofer you call in ten years than the one who sold you a roof you didn't need.

### What warranty comes with the work?

Repairs carry a workmanship warranty in writing on the invoice. Full replacements carry the Mammoth Two Tusk Limited Lifetime Warranty: our 10-year workmanship warranty on the installation, plus the manufacturer's limited lifetime material warranty on the roofing materials. Ask us for the warranty document and read it before you sign.
